My pachyderm,
His name is Herm,
He likes his red umbrella.
But it’s not designed
For elephant kind,
And leaves him one wet fella.

You ask me, we’ve got a winner with our first lovely responder. Just like in a gun fight. Quickest to draw lives to see another day. Nice job Paul and Denise. What teamwork! I do wonder about something though.
Raindrops are red,
Elephants are purple,
Question is…
“Is this guy a square or a circle?”

The Sad Elephant
By: Chris Luna

There once was an elephant named Elliot. He got sad when the sky turned black and it rained. Then he found out that he could ballance an umbrella on his trunk. Elliot wasn’t that sad anymore.

Good job on the stylized hand writing of your email address! Now my spam filters will not have to work in overdrive.

sweet piece! I actually saw two faces at first and not the elephant, pretty cool!

After slipping and falling into the largest ice cube tray in the world, Mortimer could no longer move his appendages. His days of reenacting Gene Kelly were over.

It’s not so much the whole small umbrella thing that bothers me…it’s that my back legs aren’t long enough to reach the ground.

Sensing imminent danger, the sqaurephant lifts his umbrella to protect the smaller cheek.
December 9th, 2007 at 8:16 pm
The rain’s not much of a problem, so I don’t need a big umbrella. But if the wind hits me straight on, I’ll be flat on the ground and washed away to who knows where!
(I vote for Nathan’s as the funniest subtle humor!!!!)

Sonnet 113300
My Elephants trunk is nothing like a rain cap.
Larkspurs are more blue than his skin blue.
If silk be smooth why then his knees be burlap.
If brows be arched, his eyes be under a queue.
I have seen pachyderms with cheeks so pink,
But blush upon his cheeks is purple hued.
The dearth in africa makes my pet stink;
These chilly rains, though cleansing make him brood
I hear his call, the melody so clear
This trumpet, though I love, makes my ears ache.
His coming may make many run in fear
My elephant, when he walks, the ground does shake.
And yet, my dear, I think my elephant as sweet
As any you will find on all four feet.
This is a parody on Shakespeares sonnet 130…can’t take full credit.
Sorry, the iambic pentameter is a little off. Elephant is a tricky word to work w/.

If you’re taking votes, Nathan’s is my favorite.

OK…just one more, then I’ll stop…this came to me while on my bike ride today.
An Elephant’s Lament
In countenance, unlike my friends, I fear that I flouresce.
The puddles forming round my feet are causing me distress.
My red umbrella’s not much help. My face is not symmetric.
Most elephants are round and plump, but I’m so geometric.
Oh Pauly, why’d you draw me so, instead of fancy free.
Though better than Dali’s elephants, I really have to plea…
Please take me from this blasted rain, it’s making me distraught,
and give me ears like dumbo, or ears as an elephant ought!

“My Imaginary Friend”
I used to have an imaginary friend,
An Elephant named Heimler.
I went everywhere with him and did every thing.
I could not be drawn away.
I couldn’t take a breath, take a step, or blow my nose
Without him near.
Nobody would listen to me when I introduced him.
Maybe they thought it was silly.
Maybe they thought I was a fool.
It didn’t matter.
He was everything to me.
Without him I would be nothing.
Then I realized the truth.
I REALLY could not do anything without Heimler by my side.
I REALLY was nothing without him near.
I don’t have an imaginary friend anymore.
He’s very real.
I can’t tell you how much I feel loved
Now that I know that HE imagined ME.

And then Ele realized the eagle had stole the damp sky and hidden it under the umbrella…

Rain makes my cheeks swell.

Using my telekinetic powers I will now make this umbrella shrink. Ta dah!

I love my trunkbrella. It’s rather Elephun.

While appreciative of the gift and loving the color, it was of marginal usefulness.
