Caption Contest #2!

brain4.gif

OK - all you “Creatives” - Here’s the first Caption Contest for 2008. The winner for this one will receive the first ever “WALLY AWARD”!

This image was inspired by my Wife’s post about observing brain surgery. Apparently- we are all walking around with brains that throb/pulse to the beat of our hearts.

Have fun with your little poems and short stories.

    I like the drawing…

I’m sorry, but all I can think of when I see this drawing, is the Devo song: S.I.B. (SWELLING ITCHING BRAIN). Though the lyrics don’t quite go with the drawing.

  2. Judy Says:

When I close my eyes, I see
that which throbs and makes me ME

I see it green . . . and see it pink
It’s the part that makes me think

I see it blue, I see it yellow
It makes me quite a snappy fellow.

It may just be my favorite part
and keeps good rhythm with my heart.

    louis armstrong snaps

This is your brain…This is your brain on the blues.

An obnoxious poem, dedicated to Denise and my Human Anatomy professor. More will be coming….I am feeling inspired, but will have to wait until the twins nap time.

  5. Heidi Says:

This is dedicated to Denise and Dr. Whitehead, and my own dura mater, she really is one tough mother. It is to be belted out to Bobby Bland’s song “A Touch of the Blues”

I said it wasn’t long ago, my ticker was done
But with this pacemaker, the headaches are gone.
With this new pacemaker, uh-huh, I just can’t lose.
Motor, sensory, feels so good, I’ve got the pulse of the blues.
My friends said I looked bad, my pons wasn’t right.
Now I breath easy, yeah baby, and smile all night.
My corpus callosum, Oh yeah, it’s delivering the news.
Yes, now I rest easy, Oh honey, I got the pulse of the blues
I went to see my Doctor, he said “You’re doin’ great!”
I’m no longer palsied. I’m well from ventricles to pate.
Circulation through my dura mater, life has been infused
I never want to lose, this rhythm of the blues
Limbic system works fine, now I’ve got it all
Frontal, Parietal, Temporal, oh baby, Occipital!
My cerebrum keeps throbbing, w/ this blood so true
Motor, sensory, feels so good. I’ve got the pulse of the blues.

  6. Steve Says:

While its sense of rythm was impeccable, the brain was severely marked down on footwork and gestures.

  9. Stacie Says:

Great stuff Paul. I have always wondered what it would be like to have “sound to color synesthesia.” Now I know.

  10. Loafy Says:

just something i quickly whipped up
    …………………………………………….

    -Jazzed Emotions-

    tap, tap, tap,
the snair pulses to the beat,
    tap, tap, tap,
    there goes my feat,

it picks up, it’s getting fast,
but like this smile, it just won’t last,
and i turn blue, just like the past,

it drum rolls out a rapid pace,
and the red grows in my face,
my feet start moving once again,
    but my brain can’t comprehend,

and then i realize it’s just my heart,
the beat, that pulse, that keeps me sparked

  11. Denise Says:

While the fMRI remains the gold standard in terms of functional and structural brain imaging, the TBS, or technicolor-bluesy scope, now makes identification of “funkiness” a breeze.
